Ahhh what can I say about Lady?
Lets start at the same place we did with Cutie.
Lady was adopted from a very loving, caring, family owned pet shop. Lady was adopted at the same time as Cutie (her biological sister) & Suz. The reason for buying 3 Ratties is because we had 3 children that really wanted some pet Ratties and being that I have had pet Ratties previously I felt that it would be wonderful to have some again.
I have been told that I must add that Lady owns our son.
We went to the pet shop expecting to bring home 3 siblings however there were only 2 girls & their mum (Hannah, but more on her later) left in Lady’s litter so we decided to go for the only other young girl in the shop (Suz) who was approx 3 weeks older.
Lady was even more shy that Cutie and was the smallest of the girls. Lady never showed any signs of aggression at all but was very jumpy around new things including me. However, when we placed her with our son she seemed to settle quite a bit better. Lady was not keen on being down or in tops she preferred to peak out from your fingers to see around. As time progressed, with me sitting in the evening at the cage door encouraging Lady (and her sisters) to trust me, she eventually realised that food could be located in my fingers and that I was not so bad after all. She would sit back and watch all the great things her sister bought back before coming towards me but she did eventually come on her own. Lady is our climber and jumper. If she thinks you are not looking she will climb to get to any boys cages within range. Lady also does not appreciate it when she is placed on the lounge while you clean her cage. One night I was cleaning their cage while I got hubby to watch the girls on the lounge. I was busy doing what we do…cleaning and scrubbing and changing bedding and hubby almost screams ……I turn around and there Lady is perched on hubbys leg (he was sitting about 1 metre away from her), she was determined, there was no way that I was going to be allowed to clean in peace for once.
Fast forward to now 6 months later. Lady is our quiet girl in the girls cage she keeps to herself most of the time, occasionally cuddling with the other girls but when they are having their spats she goes to another level. Lady is very gentle and slightly more adventurous than the other girls. Lady has no idea what sit still means and is always up to no good when she is free ranging.
Lady is normally the first or second to the door when she hears people approaching, waiting, anticipating anyone’s arrival with treats or cuddles. She is also very good at begging any one of our 4 children for that last chip or little bit of chocolate stuck to their fingers.
