Having a dedicated server would be the way to go but the money is the issue.
I would really like to get public liability insurance for PRRR before spending anything more on bandwidth. If we can get public liability it means we can do more shows, public outing etc but public liability will cost us around $700.00 per year.
If every registered member donated $3.50 per year towards PL that would cover the year but 200 members don't participate within the forum so it lies with the same people who always contribute. The $3.50 is in addition to what people are already donating as we still need money for the cost of food etc for the rats.
Basically we need $60.00 per month to cover PL, we just don't make this kind of money every month to be able to do it. If we have to also upgrade our bandwidth then PL ends up on the backburner yet again.
As selfish as it sounds there is only so much i can financially volunteer myself to give people the opportunity to communicate with others. It has to be, as it always has, about the animals and i will not take from them just so people can have a free to use chat place and abuse the privilege. As i tell my kids all the time... PRRR forum is a privilege no one apart from those helping to pay for it have a right to do as they please for free.
LOL, and BTW not having a go at any one particular person here but it is pent up anger towards those in the past that have registered, got what they have wanted and then vanished again without helping in any way or form as far as good advise, donations or volunteer work. We are not here for people to make money from the forum, we are here to help each other and most of all help rats in general. So far there has been donations made which have always been used for the rescues, the money for the bandwidth etc comes from Quent's pay. Meaning that we go without certain things, as do our children.
The next person that comes here just to abuse the forum please think again because your actions not only effect us as adults but my children who also go without for the rescues
