Ballajura Vet Hospital

Postby ashana » Thu Jan 15, 2009 6:35 am

We took Ekko and Suz to the Ballajura Vet Hospital the other day just to see how good their knowledge was etc.

The biggest plus for this vet is their free consults.
How this works is you take you animal in to see them (they do not have appointments just go in and wait, i would advise a phone call first to make sure they are not super busy)
They check the animal over and if medical treatments are needed they will let you know what the treatments are etc.
If you decide to go with treatment they charge you a reasonable consult fee plus med cost, if you decide NOT to go with treatment then there is no charge at all.

They are lovely people there, the vets are very friendly and respect that owners may have an opinion about treatments that they would like to try. They will listen and take into consideration the owners thought and then explain why those options would or would not work.

On the down side.... i am still trying to gauge how much knowledge they have about rats. Basic stuff i think they know but the more uncommon things maybe they don't. I will be working with them for the time being, offering them additional information about vet treatments that have been tried that seem to work etc as they are very interested in learning more.

Worst case scenario, if you suspect that you animal is ill but can not afford the normal vet charges that apply to just get the animal checked then try Ballajura, they seem to also be open to offering payment option etc so that the animals can be helped.
The Biggest Mistake to Ever Make is NOT Learning From Your Previous Mistakes!!

Hello,
I'm Charmaine and I'm new here
I have two beautiful male rats Zeke ( rex, 12 wks) and Sonic (satin, 14 wks)
I love animals and work at a Dog Day Care and Dog Grooming Salon :roll!:
I'm studying to be a Vet Nurse and I have done work experience there.
Ballajura Vet Hospital is not only a great place to take your pets ( the prices are very reasonable), but it is also an atmospheric place to work. They have strict policies about how everybody (staff and clients) are treated there and they refuse to hire any vets or nurses who patronize or intimidate others with their Knowledge. I know in other clinics, it can be quite competitive behind closed doors, because unfortunately, there are quite a few vets who seem to think nurses are only for cleaning up after them or don't have the mental capacity or dedication they have because we didn't go to uni for 5 years. :saywha:

Anyways, I recently got my Male satin (Sonic :ratlove: ) neutered there ($100) and they did a great job, it was very neat and they gave him plenty of attention and cat biscuits to keep him occupied. All the animals there get a shaggy carpet blanket when in the cages too and plenty of attention from the nurses :nottelling: So if you have any questions and its appropriate to answer (because i don't work there) then I'll do my best XD

Re: How to make rats live longer (not good for the males to read

HI guys if you want to spend more time with you rats but your rats are sick or not eating if there sick just check there body for tumors and listen to their chest for noises or just take them to a vet. There is one vet clinic that i can think of Ballajura vet clinic has low prices. Now moving on to not eating right if your rats are not eating right then just feed them s26 soy formula or if you have any freddo frogs feed them a tiny tiny bit of it so only little bits and only 1 little bit :giggles:

Oh I see a bit of English tuition went in on that last post Kiana :giggles: Now you just need to correct "check their bodies for tumours" and you'd get a gold star
